IGC Opening Cup 2007

Rigenée, May 13, 2007

Team Aggregate Stableford

This year's Opening Cup broke with tradition. Tradionally the curtain raiser for the new season and well attended, this year's aggregate 3 ball stableford competition being played in mid-May felt wrong and this is an experiment that will not be repeated in future years.

Contrary to the fine weather of the last 6 weeks, this round was played in blustery and at sometimes wet weather.

I think that is fair to say that scores were mediocre, however the winning team of Anthony Morley, Majed Ghammachi and David Landau did well to accumulate a team score of 100 pts to win by 3 pts from Peter Mountain, Nigel Butler and Robert Hayers with Mike Maxwell, Garry Dowdle and Peter Wright 3rd. Karl Adkins had the best round of the day to win Category 1 with 37 pts while David Landau won category 2 on a CB from Garry Dowdle with 36 pts.

True to tradition, those not present foer the prize-giving forfeited their wine and the final act was to draw names out the hat, Dawood Jaffer, Anne Morley and Nicolas Duchateau receiving consolation for their day's effort.
